About the role
Enphase is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer to be a member of our world-class, Storage and System Innovation team in the office of the CTO, to develop world class battery storage solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial energy storage.
What you will do
- Investigate and develop power electronics and control hardware for energy storage solutions at the concept and feasibility stages.
- Rapidly develop and characterize prototypes to de-risk development
- Automate functional testing and characterization of power electronic and control designs.
- Model and simulate power electronics and control designs to ensure understanding and reduce iteration cycles
- Designs must reflect knowledge of relevant regulations, statutes, and requirements for fielded power and storage systems.
- Interact with other multi-disciplinary teams across the company to ensure the concepts meet requirements and are transitioned successfully to the development teams.
- Must be a problem solver with a strong sense of urgency and drive
- Key areas of expertise include value engineering, AC power regulations and statutes, power electronics, control systems, firmware and software.
Who you are and What you bring
- BS Degree + 5 yrs experience or MS Degree + 3 yrs experience or PhD with experience in advanced hardware and control systems.
- Experience in hardware development for power applications.
- Working knowledge of microcontrollers and associated firmware
- Circuit design, board layout, and troubleshooting experience.
- Passion for building and fostering good engineering practices and processes
- A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and an ability to work cross-functionally
Valuable Expertise
- Circuit simulation using standard and customer simulation tools
- Experience designing and characterizing microinverters
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations for power and storage systems
- Detailed knowledge of power electronic components, suppliers, and best in class performance for these devices
- Working knowledge of microcontrollers, programming, and use in power electronic applications.
